Hi, Please could someone put me staight on valve clearances? I am confused as to whether they can be adjusted or not on my '72 107 450SL. I have a ticking on one bank when the engine is warm. Quiet and smooth when cold, and starts ticking as it warms up and throughout the rev range. It is supposed to be a recon engine. I have read plenty about engines 'ticking' when cold and quietening, but not this way round.
I have found the following on a US forum, and a pdf, but I thought this had hydraulic tappits and adjustment wasn't possible.
