Took my car for it's MOT today for £25 and it passed...the tester did however mention an advisory of a leaking differential, and advised me there was a "serious leak" and the car should be returned and cleaned up and then any leaking seals replaced.
The garage does have a reputation for being overly picky and looking for work (hence MOT price) so I've looked and there is a patch of oil on the drive where the diff goes...it's less than 1/2" square each night.
So does this count as seriously leaking, it seems very small to me...and how do you test the level (without a ramp) and top up without a ramp too....or is this impossible?...and what type of oil does a diff take?
Also if the level gets too low what are the warning signs and when will damage occur. no whining/whirring/anything untowards at present.
TIA for any help.
