hello, first time on forum and first thread.... my name is andy, from retford notts.
i have got a c220 cdi auto, had it about a year now and was registered 2004.
it has had one or two problems since buying it but was sorted with a years warranty i took out, nothing major i may add..
the reason for joining is to try and get an answer to a problem i am having at the moment and also to take care of my 220 myself ( if possible ) and to save money at the same time ...
so my problem i am having at the moment started yesterday when i lost kickdown, i had no indication on the dash ( engine diagnostics light ) until this morning..i took it to guy i know who has a garage and asked him what could be the problem... he put in on the machine to get a fault code.. which i think was PO244 or PO224 ( sorry brian a bit fried :mad: )...he said it MAY be something to do with the injector slonoid ?? ...gobble-d-gook to me ....after fetching it back, the light had gone off and it was still the same, he reckons that it may cost around £800 to sort....after running it down the A1 for a while, then going home, the kickback came back ?????.....
does it just need a clean of sorts ? i'm thinking that if it had broke, surley it wouldn't have come back... the light is still on the dash ..the engine is now and before running just as smooth....
i know a bit of mechanics but some stuff needs to be explained in plain english for me to grasp...
