STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG SL500 - INCONSISTANT SRS WARNING.

Hi all, this is a bit of an odd situation. A little while ago I had the SRS warning light illuminate within the instrument cluster. This was a couple of weeks after the airbag and steering wheel were removed and refitted. It was cleared by Star and stayed off for a while. It then came on again and for the second time it was cleared by Star. After a while it came on for the third time and couldn't be cleared and Star was saying it was a fault with the airbag or the supply to it. (I was advised that the fault was indicating that it or a supply to it was open circuit). Before anything drastic was done, or pulled apart, 'my' airbag was installed into 'another' SL and the SRS light did 'not' come on in that car. Conversly, the airbag from the doner SL was put into my SL and the SRS again stayed off. Eventually my original airbag was re-installed and guess what .... the SRS light stayed off. All has been checked out again on Star and all shows in order. The indie's only explanation was that even though the plugs on the back of the airbag appear by design to be a good fit, and are locked in, there could have existed (or still exist) a not so perfect electrical connection --- has any body else experienced such a thing or can anybody give me an explanation to such a fault other than the one I describe.

Thanks
Dale.
