I'am going to view an unusual beast - a 1980 SLC280 that has had an OM603 diesel and auto fitted tomorrow.
I have spoken to the owner and have managed to deduce in between his glowing praise that if it suffers from anything it is that it is under geared - I suspect as the diff will be the item from its 280 guise also he commented that the speedo is about 10 mph out which would seem to back that theory up, my main question is would it be feasable to change the diff and would a unit be fairly obtainable?
I have done a few searches and it seems alternative ratios were available but I wonder is the diff assembly unique to a 107 or is it the same as say a
W123? I may be anticipating a problem that doesn't exist but I will be doing motorway mileage at times and I dont want a diesel screamer!
