I have had a strange journey home today. It is a 65 mile journey on a variety of road types. After 15 miles, I felt a couple of slight misfires. Each time, the radio volume reduced for about 3 seconds. Shortly afterwards I got the message that I had to visit workshop, alternator problem. This went off after a few seconds. A few miles further I got an error message telling me that my automatic light sensor had failed.Over the next 20 miles they were both repeated. A bit later I got another message that my LH turn signal had failed, and foglamp was being used as alternative.
The 3 'malfunction' kept repeating. I got home, switched off and when locking, noticed that all turn signals were indeed working.
This is probably some sort of electrical problem, but where do I start to look? Could it be a SAM problem? Front or Back?
I did the EGR mod about 5K miles ago, apart from that it is totally unmodified.
I will obviously try it again tomorrow, but may have to travel 10 miles or more to get the problem. It may not return.
Although the surrounding areas are very wet, I have not been through any floods, so am discounting water ingress at this time.
Has anyone got any ideas?
It is a 2002 C220 cdi estate, manual gearbox, 284K miles (I have had the car since new, no previous electrical issues). The car seems to be charging OK. It shows 14V when the engine is running.
