I just had a problem with the key on my school run special, which is a Renault Grand Scenic.
This has a card instead of a traditional key, and the reader stopped recognising either key card. I messed around for ages trying to diagnose this at home. I suspected the card reader but could not really test it properly :surrender:
My pal owns the local renault dealership so one of his technicians tested both keys in their dedicated card reader: Both Kaput, reader tests ok!
Upshot: £140 for one key or £200 for a pair from him. :eek:
I googled around t'interweb and found this guy:

(he does other makes also, not just renault
he repaired BOTH keys, fitted new switches and re soldered all weak points including return postage for £50. The turnaround was excellent and both now work perfectly.
I just wanted to pass this guys details on as he did such an exemplary job. If any of you guys get key problems with the electronic gadget key on your modern, this is the guy to ask for help. Cheers, Simon
