R129 SL air con controls

Hi, my 1993 air con controls aren't working properly. Fan speed 2 when you press it will sometimes work, more often it won't. Also, it won't go onto Econ mode when I press the button. Is it goosed or can it be dismantled to clean the connections? It is the control unit with the temp displayed in a small screen on the top left.
