Fitting a "Bomb sight" on a CLS, Legality, Difficulty and Asthetics

I love my CLS but I do miss looking at the hoop of chrome whilst driving along.

I am considering retrofitting the the star off my 202 but was wondering where I stood legally for such a mod, how difficult it would be to do and is it just ascetically wrong?
