Hi All,
I was recommended the forum by a Member who I know from another Owners club. i'm currently in the market for a CLS and am very excited by the prospect of ownership. The problem is that I'm not totally sure which to go for. Initially, I was sold on the Diesel, based on the performance figures compared to the 3.5 petrol and the associated fuel consumption figures, however, I have been looking at earlier models and have naturally been reading about the SBC issue. My initial thought is to just go for an 06 or later model, however, I'm curious to know if cars that have gone for the recall/replacement part still suffer from the issue?
With all the above said, part of me is very interested in the 500. I am used to MPG of around 15 doing urban driving so it will be cheaper to run, but, besides the associated sound track and so on, is there any great benefit/issues by going for the 500 over the 350/320, besides options?
It's also worth mentioning that I do 9 miles, each day, monday to friday so I'm doing very limited millage anyway BUT I am planning on doing some longer journeys this year, including a drive accross France- can anyone report regarding fuel economy during such a drive in a 500?
So, bearing all of this in mind (And a budget of around 8-9k), what are peoples recommendations?
Many thanks in advance and apologies if this is something that comes up very often.
