I have been speaking to Mercedes UK about replacing the timing chain on my C200 kompressor. Now they have told me that there is no need as the chain are meant to run the life of the engine.
However i am going to change it in summer & say for any reason it breaks in between, is the engine safe from complete catasrophy ?
The reason i mention this is because my wife's little Fiat punto has the engine which is safe against such failures by providing some clerance between piston n valves (something like that, i am not expert)
can somebody please shed some light on this ?
engine on mine is W203 & M271 (2004 plate with 68K miles)
