I just purchased a 2003 MB SL500 with 110K miles and am curious to know what you folks think the life of a well kept V8 and transmission could be. I paid what I consider a fair price, according to quite a bit of research, for the car and think that if the engine and trans are in as good condition as I believe they should last at least another 50K miles with proper attention. Certainly there will be maintenance costs such as an alternator, rotors, suspension repair etc. that will probably need repair/replacement. This is my first MB, I have owned 11 911s and 930s over the years, and does not need to be an everyday driver. Just an inexpensive trip into the MB world. Any thoughts appreciated.
