I've had a rubbish week.
My W124 estate went to my local body-shop for replacement of the following items: rear bumper insert and estate window trims.
Firstly, I was let down three weeks running, and then he, the owner of the unnamed body-shop appeared to be rather busy and despite the job being booked in, it was a disappointing experience. But that is another matter.
The rear bumper insert has been bodged; it was an eBay purchase, and I made this clear from the start to him, I purchased the entire bumper in the correct colour, but the fitting is poor - the gaps are not the same on either side. We found out the bumper had been repaired previously and it cracked upon fitting.
The estate window trims, instructions were kindly provided by Television, are a total failure, and I feel really disappointed. They do not fit properly, and I was told this was the case, as the glass remained in place. In order to have them fit 'properly' the glass would have to come out - something I did not want to do. I did not buy this as a valid reason, as having done my own research, it seems possible to replace these trims, without having to remove the glass.
So, much moaning later, some hard earned cash spent, I now require another body-shop to repair both these bodges. I would prefer a club member to show me how to fit these parts; perhaps Mr Nick Froome can voice his expertise on the latter trim issue.
I attached photos of the issues, the new replacement trims don't line up and this annoys me, but also I am worried about water leaks.
All in all, I have been a repeat customer of this body-shop for the last 18 months, but now I won't be going back, that is for sure. My fault for trying to save money, but in all reality, I was just trying to avoid having the paint the replacement bumper bits, and then run the risk of mis-matched plastic parts.
Advice sought. I am north London based and as always, on a budget.
