I've held off buy a new MB or nice 4x4 for two reasons.
1st, many fools on the road in bangers that just cut you up all the time as their car is usually worthless and most like not even insured.
2nd, this is the main reason, car park bags of mess. Today, an old bag (about 30-ish but still an old bag in my books because of the parasites carelessness) with a kid smashed her door into my MB as I sat in it waiting for my wife to return. The old bag hit the door mirror - moved her lips to say sorry, I guess its better than saying nothing. The other day, having the car washed after many weeks, two new dents on front wing. I park away from bangers and next to a wall for more security.
My question to a police officer here or anyone with knowledge of the law.
What if I see someone bangs their door into my car, damage it, but refuse to accept it was them that did it even though I could prove to them they did, ie their car door lining up with the dent they put in my car. Where do I stand if this happened in a private car park and the other driver refused to give their details and I took their reg details and possibly a picture and an independent witness. Could I sue the mess once I have spent 4 hours in a police station to make a report re incident and sue via small claims if I feel they have more than a penny to rub together? (I'm not hard heated as if some one genuinely (that is took care/etc but a genuine bad luck) accidentally banged their door into my car and damage was minimal I would accept apology and leave at that.
Sorry about my language but these parasite that cannot careless how their fling their car/van doors open or allow their single parent kids to smash doors against others cars or people putting kids into child seats in car parks and bouncing their car door off another car with their big bums.
