W203: continued bad breaking

hi guys,
i never did get around to replacing bits in my brakes yet (complained of shuddering when braking before in this thread), i was told it could be warped discs amongst other things,

today, if i stop the car and lightly press the brake pedal while the car is stationary, the steering wheel will move in a clockwise direction each brake press, moving more as i depress each time. So is this indicative of bad break pads on the LEFT side or a problem with my calipers on the right ? or could it be the special screws that hold the pads in place which are (i think) supposed to glide in and out as you press the brakes...

I want to understand the brakes better rather than splashing out on money only to find it was a waste..

to add to the above, i occaisonally here 'clicking' when braking, but i'm not sure where it's coming from, it sounds disturbing though. I've removed both wheels and by eye examined the discs and pads, they look just fine and if i look at any of the calipers etc it all looks good and feels tight, just when braking that its not so hot...

thoughts welcome
