R171 boot leak

Hi all,
I am sure I have read of this in here before but cant locate the thread. Wifey SLK has a leak in the boot, it seem to follow a shunt last year but that could be coincidence.......Is my memory correct to silicone the joint in the weatherstrip in the boot?
