Did use search however, my uncle had the drive belt off and assured me that he pulleys are ok.
Basically its a light metallic squeal from the left hand side (as you face the front of the car), inconsistent in frequency. Its there on idle, take the revs above 1000 rpm and it goes, comes back when your coasting along. Its not bad but just enough to need fixing.
The pulleys have been sprayed with white grease. Belt appears to be ok. The alternator isnt under load at the time, belt appears to be tought. I have ordered a stethoscope and will be using one for the first time on it to track this problem.
Would there be a common fault to look for?
