Having bought a CLK 320 CDi a couple of months ago now, I didn't know that the glow plug light staying on for 40 seconds was a problem, until I started reading about the associated problems on here. It was a bit sluggish to start, with a fair bit of cranking over when cold compared to my previous CLK 270 CDi.
Much reading later and noting a few horror stories about removing the injectors and the glow plug relay blowing links inside, I tackled the job today.
Every glow plug came out really easily and weren't even what I would call tight! I changed all 6 and checking the old ones on a battery, only 2 of the 6 were working, no wonder it took a bit of cranking over to start!
I also changed those orange seals on the induction pipe which were weeping a bit of oil mist down towards the swirl flap motor.
This is a great forum full of information, so thanks to all that contribute their knowledge here :D
