Hi Guys,
Back on the forum after a long spell away from Mercedes. I recently bought a 2003 e-class 320cdi avantgarde auto with 98000 on the clock. Love driving it.
Before buying, I checked with Mercedes and they confirmed that the SBC unit was replaced/repaired last year (one of the reasons I chose it).
The car has developed a strange pump noise (the best I could describe it as fluid being pushed inside a hollow metal tube). The noise goes away when I press the brake pedal.
I assume it's caused by the brake system or suspension because I coasted the car at speed with the engine off and the noise was still present...so this means it is not the engine nor gearbox. The noise is only present when I am travelling over 50mph.
What do you think it could be?
