Hi Everyone,
I have a 1999 C-Class W202 1.8 Petrol - Manual. It was running great until the cold weather 12 months ago, trouble starting it one very cold morning, but I got it going in the end.
Since then I have irregular cutoff problems when slowing down up to traffic lights, or city driving - using the clutch a lot.
The engine will cut, all the lights on the dash will come on, and so too will the steering wheel lock. Turning the key to the off position and starting it again is no problem, car will start right back up.
I have noticed recently that the rev counter will drop to 0 before it cuts out, even when foot is fully in on the clutch. Also sometimes it will drop down to 1 (without engine cutting) and spring back up again to 5-8 on the rev counter.
This is happening about twice a week now, if it happened all the time it might be easier to diagnose.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
The throttle flap was cleaned, but problem is still there so I assume it is something else causing the issue.
I just read this thread and sounds similar:
