Advice on fitting Nudge bar and Plug in tuning chip

Hi, I have a 2000 reg Mercedes Ml 270cdi. I want to fit a chrome nudge bar, I have looked at a few on the web, but the ones for the MK1 1998 - 2001 are too high in the front. I want to fit a low one which sits level or just above the bumper. Is it possible to fit one for a later model i.e 2001 - 2005. Would the front end be any different between the MK1 and MK2.

I am also thinking of fitting the plug in tuning chips/modules that I have seen advertised. Has anyone fitted one.? Do they work, if they do can anyone recommend a particular model to fit.
