electric window issues w124 estate

hi all,

just working through one or two issues i have with my car. the one i'm working on is the drivers electric window. it winds down fine but to wind up takes lots and lots of 'up-off' motions of the switch to et it to go up.

i suspected the regulator but on looking into it further, when i reversed the wires to the motor when the door card was removed, it winds up fine (remember the wires have been reversed so it goes up when wound down at the switch) but it won't wind down.

what does this now point to??
