w203 2001 - intermittent wiper blade setting not working on position 1

Hi

On setting 1 and 2 the wash wipe sequence is the same i.e. continuous and I cant see any settings for intermittent wash wipe - could this be relay?

also I have read that there is auto function on these cars but I cant seem to tell if this is the case.
