My 2004 C220 CDI seems to be eating up battery amps and drains the battery overnight. Last Tuesday while driving on the M20 in very heavy rain, the engine management light came on. The car was running fine but the next morning the battery was completely drained. I thought the fault might simply be the battery so I bought a new one but that also was drained overnight. I've read elsewhere here that the auxiliary heater is a common fault on these but also that water can sometimes get into the wrong places causing battery drain. As the engine management light came on during heavy rain it may be that water has got in the wrong place? Anywhere I should look for water before getting my wallet out and taking the car to someone with a STAR machine?
