124 chrome arches fun and games

As a temporary bodge, decided to cover up the rear arch corrosion with chrome arches - although I hate the look of them.

To cut a long story short, ground away the rust, treated with rust converter and painted with hammerite, then lashings of wax. Arches on car done.

Then, paint the arrches same colour as the car (as the chrome is too bling and naff for me). This took ages as wanted them to blend in as good as possible.

So, loads of time keying the chrome, etch primer, wet and dry, lots of coats, lot of lacquer, lots of rubbing down with wet and dry, then rubbing compound then polish. Looking great.

They fit on with 4 metal prongs which you bend round over the arch lip, and one predrilled hole to use a screw. Which brings me to the question - are these arches made of solid stone as trying to drill through is a right pain? Needless to say the drill bit broke, drill batters against arch cover, and lovely paint job now not so lovely!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!
