I pick my car up soon and am interested in a re-map of the engine but it is all new to me...

It is on finance with MB and will be serviced by MB.

If you could please help me understand the following.

1) How many miles should I do before the re-map to allow the engine to bed in?

2) Am I best with a tuning box so I can remove before any servicing or should I go for the software option, do the service team see the re-map?

3) What else do I need to be aware of?

Thanks for your patience in reading this and any help would help me clear things up in my mind.

Hello everyone at MB owners.
I have just gone back to a W204 after a horrible experience with a Honda Accord 2.2 idtec ES GT Tourer. Previous to that I owned a W203 for 7 years which I loved! Anyone thinking of buying a Honda Don,t, I could fill a page here with Dislikes.

SLK 280 - R171

My mate has decided he wants to purchase a 2006 SLK280 - 3.0 litre v6, 36k miles and fsh.
However, I believe the R171 will have the "problematic" M272 engine, especially at this year. Am I correct in this assumption please ?
The car has the 7g autobox which I am asuuming definitely means the car will have the M272 engine. In other words, I don't think there exists a R171 SLK280 3.0 litre with the earlier M112 engine ?
Can someone please just confirm and then I'll be able to inform my friend.

CLK vs flooded road whats missing? help needed

So today i drove my W209 CLK 220D (had it three weeks:cry:) through a flooded road, I knew it would be bad this morning but the road has never flooded there before and just around a corner so i hit it hard, leaves jammed absolutely everywhere it drives and the archliner was rubbing on the wheel which i have now got back into position with a couple of fixings, the rest of the damage is underneath but i cant tell whats missing and how big and if its driveable without it as i need the car for work.

Any help is appreciated rang a few local garages but none of them have any time to look at it today.



C220 electric windows and mirrors u/s

Hi,
My W reg C220 CDI windows have not worked for quite a while, and neither have the door mirrors.
It is as if no power is getting to the centre console where the switches are.
I have read many posts about window faults, but has anyone ever had both windows and mirrors fail to operate?
The windows all work as they should with the car remote and the rear ones work fine with their door switches.
Had the fault codes cleared today but still no joy.
Is there an in line fuse or relay somewhere which may be causing the fault?
Any assistance appreciated.

Hi all. After much debate and wrangling, we have decided to sell our E320 S210 estate and buy an S211 E320 estate. We are on a limited budget so the choice is crucial to get it right....
We are chatting with the seller of a 55 registration S211 E320 estate and we are told that everything is good apart from a couple of small marks on the body. They say that they are the second owners and that it has been well looked after, with service history (first owner had it serviced in London by Porsche....) It has covered 170K miles, had a new MOT and a pair of new Conti's on the car.
Is there anything that I should be worried about please guys? Any advice gratefully received :)

Hi Everyone, my name is Pete, and I have been searching the forums for a few days but I still dont think I have found the answer I am looking for.

Rather than make a big mistake (which I have frequentley done in the past when choosing a car) I thought I would ask you experienced guys here for help first, if you dont mind?

I used to have a 2006 E320 Sport Estate a while ago, and I have to say it was the best car I have ever owned, I just loved driving it! I eventually parted company and after a few years trying different cars out I have decided to get a mercedes E class again.

I have a budget of about 18K I can push to 19k maximum. I have spent the last week searching and to be honest I am more confused than ever!

I need an estate and had my heart set on a E350 in sport trim, however I have seen a couple of E250 sports, they some more common and look a better buy in terms of price. It seems generally I can can get a 2012 E250 Sport with about 60k miles or a 2010 E350 with similar miles for the same money of about 17-18k

Which one should I pick???

MPG is not a factor, the drive to me is everything, motorway miles mainly doing about 20k a year, spend a lot of time in the car.

My main concern is going for the 250 and then regretting it and wishing I bought the 350, so do I go older and get a 2010 350 or a newer 250?

I have seen one in particular, a 250 2012 in white with Mercedes in bolton, it looks perfect but I cant work out if it has Sat nav or not from the advert, did they all have Nav?

Finally is there any particular options I should look for, that dont come as standard? I am 90% certain that I want the sport trim.

Thanks again for any help guys, I have done my own research first but hit a brick wall now, just dont want you guys to think I have come on here posting this question without doing my own bit of googling etc first!

Hi i have a 2015 C Class 350e and i have notice that the seat belts don’t take the slack back when you put them on like my old C Class did. I know you can turn them on and off but can’t find the setting. Has any body else had this problem with a 350e and do you know where the belt tensioners setting is on the vehicle.

Fitting an additional 12v Socket - W203

Hi,

Apologies in advanced for the newbie question. I'm looking to add a secondary 12v socket on my 2003 C200 Kompressor, Coupe and need help as to how I would go about wiring.

I'm looking to get something like this from eBay, snipping the part where it connects onto an existing 12v port and instead wire the snipped part elsewhere as I still need access to the existing 12v port.

The problem is I don't know exactly where to connect the wires to :(. The new spare port will be used to connect a telematics device provided by my insurer and I don't wish for it to occupy the 12v cigarette port on my car and make it look messy.

I would preferably like the new port to only work when the ignition is turned on and therefore not permanently be on. Is there anywhere in the boot that I can wire this?

Would appreciate any help.

Erratic idle on cold start following coil pack change

My C230 developed a misfire at the weekend followed by an engine management light. As we were visiting parents, I called Green Flag and the fault was diagnosed as an open circuit on cylinder 1 coil pack (the guy had a fairly sophisticated bit of Snap On diagnostic kit).

Unfortunately the local ECP did not have one in stock (£30) so it was off to the stealers and an extra £20 for the privilege. 5 minutes to replace the offending coil pack and the misfire was cured. A short detour to my indie on the way home to reset the fault code and everything appeared OK. The only thing I have noticed is an erratic idle on cold start. This lasts 10-15 secs and everything returns to normal. The engine seems to run fine although I wonder if it could be that the plug is playing up and was possibly related to the coil failure. Can a plug cause a coil pack failure and vice versa? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Looking at GLA's and a few have run-flats.
Had a look at previous older threads here and the majority don't like the ride or the expense of virtually no puncture repairs.

Are current runflats still tarred with the same brush?
Should I not buy a car because it is shod with runflats?

W220 water stored in passenger wing?

The fellow who was repairing the bodywork on my W220 to put the rust at bay for a few years said that actually inside the passenger wing there was about two litres of water, but now the drainage hole is cleared it should drain out.

I've heard that the vent just above it can get clogged, but I believe he was talking about the bodywork.

Has anybody heard of such a thing?

When I pick it up tomorrow I should hopefully be able to get a bit more information.:confused:

I'm currently stuck in a supermarket carpark with the car stuck in park. I know this is a common problem and many threads on it but i'm struggling to read through them on my phone! Is there anyway to get it out of park so I can get the car home? I have tried bashing and jolting the gearstick with my hands but no luck.
I have noticed the gearstick getting difficult a few time recently so I assume it is the plastic clip at fault?

I have removed the leather gaitor on had a look down the gap and there seems to be a bit of black plastic that doesn't look to be in the right place (just to the left of the white plug), is this the problem? If so where should it go? I might be able to move it into the right place with my fingers just to get it out of park and get home.

SL R230 grill - adding distronic badge

Hi
Does anyone know if you can simply change the centre star to the distronic version on a genuine grill or do you need to change the entire grill? There are plenty of people selling genuine distronic stars on ebay and I was wondering if I can fit it to a standard grill?

My car does have distronic btw, but I am also trying to track down a distronic sensor and bracket - it looks like someone did not get around to refitting these items after a front end collision I am guessing! If anyone knows where I can get these items it would be useful. Part is A000 540 88 17 for the sensor. There seems to be a difference with the Q numbers at the end - not sure if that makes a difference to the car?

Adjusting clock W212

I've just recently acquired a 2012 E220 SE with audio upgrade and I'm having trouble getting the clock to adjust properly. The digital clock accessed via System/ Time is set via satellite so is correct though it can be adjusted by 30 min intervals and via time zones. My problem is that the analogue clock in the instrument pod is running 2hrs 42 mins fast and I can only adjust it by setting the digital clock back or forward in 30 min intervals.

Don't know how else I can adjust the clock as there is no sub menu available via the buttons on the steering wheel and I've seen so many you tube videos on the subject which don't work that I'm now confused. The MB handbook is no help as it does not cover the issue of adjustment when there is an audio upgrade.

Anyone out there got any ideas or better still solutions please?:confused,:(
